Palworld is an upcoming open-world multiplayer survival crafting game set to come out this 2022. Japanese studio Pocketpair is back with another early look at Palworld, the Pokémon -like game that so masterfully shocked us with its reveal last summer. Given that monster collecting games are in short supply, here’s to hoping that Palworld turns out well. The timing for Palworld’s new trailer couldn’t be better, given everyone is ridiculously excited for Pokémon Legends: Arceus, which comes out later this week. Palworld is coming to PC sometime this year, though no exact date or release window has been given by Pocket Pair yet. Though you have to hand it to Palworld, it doesn’t look cheaply made - far from it, in fact. What seemingly distinguishes this game, however, is the part where you can eat your beloved Pals to survive or shoot endangered Pals for sport (though it is illegal, so you must try not to get caught). Palworld is an open-world crafting survival game where to catch cutesy monsters, store them in Poké Ball-like spheres, and occasionally mow-down enemies with machine guns. Not to be confused with the unofficial Pokémon FPS, either. Players will still be able to capture and battle them, but the gunfights of Palworld are quite different from the cutesy battles that the Pokémon games have used for the extent of the series' 25-year lifespan.Every so often, an absolutely bananas video game comes along that causes everyone to stand in wondrous awe, and Palworld is the latest example.ĭeveloped by Japanese studio Pocket Pair, Palworld is a bizarro monster-collecting game similar to Pokémon - only there are guns. Palworld's Pals seem to take on a similar role as Trainers' Pokémon, but to an extreme degree. Maybe this game has more to offer to its genres than the game. Others live out their daily lives with Pokémon more as pets or partners. Palworld is a little bit of a shocking take on the Pokemon concept, but its also an interesting take on the survival genre. In the world of Pokémon, humans live in harmony with the fantastic creatures that they share their world with. Some, called Trainers, train and battle them with the goal of becoming a Pokémon Master, conquering the various gyms and eventually challenging some of the hardest battles in the Pokémon series, the Elite Four, before defeating the reigning Champion and taking their place as the top Trainer in their respective region. ![]() New trailers have shown a variety of the different Pals that players will be able to capture and train, as well as some of the ways that they can interact with them. The release date is so far unknown, but its developer Pocketpair seems to be aiming to launch sometime in 2022.
