Sometimes I work through a problem with a candidate too - it gives them a chance to build their confidence while showcasing their skills. ![]() My favorite questions are the ones similar to actual problems, like creating an analytics dashboard. What types of questions do you typically ask in an interview? ![]() For instance, many people outside of technical roles - and even many in them - have liberal arts degrees. Dropboxers come from all kinds of academic backgrounds. They're paid to tackle real business needs and ultimately contribute to a product that impacts 400 million people.ĭo most full-time positions require a specific degree? We look for a wide variety of factors in engineering interns - motivation, coding skills, successful academic record, unique perspective, and personal projects.Īre interns paid or do they receive college credit? These projects are the same types of work full-timers do, though we try to find projects that can be completed during the internship. Each intern is assigned a mentor and a project to own. We've been inviting engineering interns to join us since 2008, and our program has grown tremendously since then. We're looking for folks with a wide array of skill sets and backgrounds, so you don't need a degree in computer science to apply. The rotation program is a chance for new college grads to spend several months on key business teams, learning about the product and company, before landing on a permanent team. Software engineering roles on all of our engineering teams, and our business rotation program. What types of jobs are available for recent graduates? We held our first Summer Hack Day in our San Francisco office this year, hosting 100 women from over 40 different universities, who were interning in the Bay Area. We also meet new graduates through on campus events from schools in our backyard, such as UC Berkeley, to those all the way across the country, like Howard University. We attend annual conferences like Amazon Web Services re:Invent, Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing, P圜on, and South by Southwest to recruit candidates with diverse skill sets and backgrounds. What types of networking conferences do you regularly attend? We find candidates all over, from our website to campus recruiting and networking events. When candidates do their research, it allows me to have deeper conversations with them about what we're up to. Generally, we encourage candidates to check out online resources like our Life Inside Dropbox Facebook page or our company about page. They should know a bit about Dropbox - even better if they frequently use it. What do you expect candidates to know about Dropbox before an interview? Our users rely on Dropbox to help simplify their lives, and we take that trust seriously. Building a product useful to millions of people is truly a team effort - whether you're an engineer, designer, marketer, or anything else. For example, we focus on teamwork and trust.
